Firecracker Math Camp combines half-day math instruction in the morning followed by fun activities in the afternoon.
Our camp is for curious and challenge-loving kids ages 6 to 16. Morning classes cover selected topics from number theory, algebra, geometry, combinatorics, graph theory, logic, and the basics of computer science. Instruction employs math games, math-based magic tricks, curious paradoxes, and contests to spark kids’ interest and boost their skills and confidence in math and other STEM subjects. Math lessons and topics are covered over two weeks at each site. The third week at a site may have repeat information. Please check with us if you are interested in registering your child for a third week.
After lunch, full day students will participate in a variety of fun afternoon activities. Last years’ activities included chess, art, science, and games.

We place campers in a group with other students who are in a similar grade level or similar level in math. Typically we do grades 1*-2, 3-5, 6-9. Your child’s initial placement is determined by the grade they will be entering in Fall 2024. For example, if your child is currently in third grade and will be entering fourth grade in the fall, he/she should join one of our fourth grade groups.
However, we also place kids according to their level in math, and their parents’ and teacher’s recommendation. A placement test is not mandatory but can be requested by parents. Please let us know if your child is an advanced math student and may benefit from being placed with a more advanced group. Likewise, if you feel your child struggles with math at school, let us know as well. At any time during the camp, you can contact us for a review of your child’s progress. * We will allow Kindergarten students as long as they meet our prerequisites. For inquiries about math placement and prerequisites please email us at info@firecrackermath.org.
